Dentists and doctors of various types need assistants to help them with the innumerable tasks involved with caring for their patients. Many schools exist around the nation to train people to be qualified as medical and dental assistants. At a dental assistant school, you will learn the administrative, chair side and laboratory skills that can make you valuable to any dental practice. Skills taught can include basic tray setups, mixing common dental materials, and maintaining dental equipment, as well as how to expose and process dental x-ray film, take dental impressions, and dental study models, and be given experience in educating patients in proper oral hygiene.
