In most places emergency medical services and emergency surgical services can be found at the nearest hospital emergency room. Emergency rooms are able to treat a variety of injuries and medical emergencies. Some hospitals have emergency surgery capabilities. If a hospital is unable to perform an emergency medical service, they will often have the patient transported to a larger hospital that can do the job. People should only go to the emergency room if there is a real medical emergency. If someone needs to see the doctor right away but does not have a doctor or is away from home, they can go to clinics that provide walk-up medical care.
