The artist, who embosses, may add whatever he or she wants to express. The artist's pressure on the items as they meet the wet pulp creates raised and recessed areas. Artist may improvise in anyway to create an embossing art piece. Embossing may be a technique of altering the surface of a sheet of paper by creating sculptural and dimensional qualities. Artists who might emboss for artistic expression may use a variety of items to make an impression into the sheet of paper. Embossing may consist of the artist choosing to add textured fabrics, thread or string, wood blocks, leaves and other elements of nature.
